A hike in Northern California in the middle of the winter sounds very challenging and not really appealing... Guess what? That was an awesome forest-rain (cold) hike! I decided only on the same morning to join the girls (and Zeta) to this trip. Something attracted me to be outdoors (probably the fact that I haven't seen any mountain foothill covered with shiny green plants for ages...).
After experiencing enough rain and mud during hours upon hours of "hikes" in the nature, I find it odd that people do it on their own, in their private, free life! Though to be honest, once I am out there, I'M LOVING IT! We were actually talking about changing plans to Bowling! How enjoyable that could have been?
The Steep Ravine Trail is absolutely gorgeous! I think that in this season it is even more impressive, of course if you are warm and dry enough. I enjoyed mostly the trees and the shapes they developed throughout the years. We went all the way up and did not notice that dogs are not allowed and after we reached to the top (and were discovered) we could not go back down with the dog. So... obviously the dog's owners stayed behind (which is me and Cristele) and waited for 2 hours for the others to come back pick us up.
I have to say that I really wanted to think about it as a precious time with my wife, but man.. That was cold! and my intentions (and Cristele's) were more into moving our bodies to stay warm, changing socks, adding layers and just killing time with reading everything that has text in it around.
After 2 hours, like a Swiss watch, our friends came to pick us up. What a relief...
We went down to Mill Valley, ate in a so so (in my opinion) Mexican restaurant and back home wet, tired and happy.
Big thank you to Sarah who organized this positively challenging hike and to all the ones who came and made it so fun and interesting!
